Khosa asked to assist FIA prosecutor in BB murder case
RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC-I) on Tuesday asked Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General and senior lawyer Sardar Abdul Latif Khosa to assist prosecutor of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s murder case.
Hearing a petition filed by Khosa to become party in the case, ATC Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman observed, “You may assist the FIA prosecutor and file a separate application in this regard.”
Presenting power of attorney, Khosa pleaded that Benazir Bhutto was the chairperson of PPP and now her son Bilwal Bhutto Zardari is the chairman of party and legal heir of the assassinated leader and, therefore, the PPP be allowed to become party in the case. The judge remarked that the court has already indicted the main accused, former president Gen (r) Pervez Msuahrraf, and questioned if the PPP wanted re-trial of the case. Khosa said that the PPP does not want re-trial of the case as it would further linger on the process, which is pending for the last more than five years. The observed that Khosa may assist the FIA prosecutor and file a separate application for the purpose.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing until September 17. app
