Pakistan rejects Washington Post report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has rejected a report regarding the country’s nuclear programme published in US newspaper Washington Post.

During a weekly news briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Aizaz Chaudhry said the US newspaper report was not an assessment of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Chaudhry added that Pakistan was opposed to military intervention in Syria stating that it would deteriorate the situation. The spokesperson said a solution for the situation in Syria should come via the United Nations.

Commenting on Pakistani prisoners in Afghanistan, Chaudhry said the Foreign Office was in contact with the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul. He said that all Pakistanis imprisoned in Afghanistan should be released.
