All challenges are to be countered come what may: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that daunting challenges being faced by the country will be countered at any cost. “It will take some years but the challenges will be overcome and nations which treat Pakistan as a beggar country will feel proud of its friendship.”He expressed these views while addressing the launching ceremony of Lord Nazir Ahmed’s book ‘Sadaqat Ki Goonj’ at a local hotel, on Sunday.
Lord Nazir Ahmed, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Mian Aamir Mahmood, Vice Chancellor Punjab University Mujahid Kamran, Raja Anwar, Brig (Retd) Aslam Ghuman, Sufia Bedar, Sahibzada Hamid Saeed Kazmi as well as assembly members, intellectuals, columnists and prominent literary figures were present on the occasion.
The chief minister said Pakistan was confronted with numerous challenges which had to be overcome through collective efforts. He said Pakistani nation was very talented but unfortunately it faced the worst load-shedding, corruption and bad governance during the five year’s tenure of the erstwhile government.
He said if the neighbouring country India was a member of G-20 today the time will come when Pakistan will also be attending such conferences and it will be known to the world as a sovereign and dignified country. He said it was not possible through mere speeches but practical efforts were needed for this purpose and the nation will have to forge unity and adopt the golden principle of honesty and hard work.
He said that Lord Nazir Ahmed supported Nawaz Sharif despite the opposition of British government and his associates when he came to Pakistan in September 2007 but the dictator Musharraf sent him back to Jeddah by the same plane but Ahmed continued to raise his voice against this injustice.
