It’s beginning of an end, says Imran
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, in a statement following the APC and his earlier meeting with army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, expressed satisfaction over both the meetings. But he said these were just the beginnings towards extricating the country from the debilitating US “war on terror” and moving towards a national holistic policy on counter-terrorism. Imran said the resolution passed by the All-Parties Conference (APC) was, in many ways, a vindication of the PTI’s position that peace should be given a chance. He said the resolution was a clear vindication of PTI-suggested policy of extricating the country from the US-led “war on terror” and promotion of dialogue, truth and reconciliation. Imran said the clear and strong language used to convey Pakistan’s opposition to drone strikes and negative fallout of the US militaristic approach in combating terrorism were healthy initiatives towards formulating a cohesive counter terrorism policy. He further said that taking the drone issue to the United Nations Security Council must also be seen as one of many policy options to counter this illegal US action in Pakistani territory and against its people. app
