No specific party targeted in operation, says Memon

KARACHI: A targeted operation is being conducted in the city with the help of intelligence agencies, police and Rangers, and no particular party is under attack, says Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Memon. A statement was issued on Wednesday, when the entire city remained shut after a strong reaction by the MQM over the arrest of its former MPA Nadeem Hashmi. Memon argued a targeted action is in progress against criminals only, and the city will be cleaned from miscreants, soon. “Karachi can not be left on the mercy of terrorists and extortionists,” he said. He also appealed political parties to help the government in eradication of the terrorists. “Different linguistic groups reside in Karachi, and targeted action should not be given a political and linguistic colour.” Meanwhile, DG Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhter called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House, and briefed him on the ongoing action. CM Sindh directed DG Rangers to maintain law and order situation, without
any discrimination. staff report
