Death anniversary of Quaid observed with reverence
ISLAMABAD: The 65th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was observed with reverence and solemnity across the country on Wednesday.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques followed by Quran Khawani for the soul of father of the nation.
Special messages were issued on the day by President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Seminars and symposia were arranged by different organisations all over the country where speakers highlighted different aspects of life and achievements of the great leader.
They paid rich tributes to Jinnah and said that despite heavy odds, the great Quaid united the Muslims of sub-continent under the banner of the Muslim League and carved out a homeland for them.
They said the best way to pay homage to the father of the nation was to follow his teachings to make Pakistan a progressive, enlightened and forward looking country as per his ideals.
Different TV channels aired special programmes while newspapers published special editions on the day.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, laid floral wreaths there, offered fateha and recorded their impressions in the visitors’ book.
In Islamabad, an exhibition of rare pictures of the great leader was held at the Lok Virsa museum while Nazariya-e-Pakistan Council held a Quran Khawani for the departed soul at Faisal Mosque. app
