MQM being pushed against wall, says Faisal Sabzwari

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Faisal Sabzwari Friday said that his party was being pushed against the wall just like in the past, Geo News reported.

Sabzwari said this while addressing a protest demonstration staged by MQM against the arrest of party’s former MPA Nadeem Hashmi outside Karahi Press Club here.

Addressing the protestors, Sabzwari said that the terrorists were firing the rockets at will but the law enforcers had no will to stop them.

“We dare those people, who launched an operation against MQM in the past, to try their luck this time too”, said he.

He further said that the ‘ethnic cleansing’ of Urdu-speaking community was underway under the cover of an operation against outlaws.

“Criminals should be apprehended despite political affiliations but a particular ethnic group should not be persecuted”, said he.

He said that his party had always responded to every transgression it faced in a political manner and wanted an indiscriminate target-operation against criminal elements. However he warned the government of a prejudiced action.

“It should be disclosed that who was giving this operation a political direction”, Sabzwari asked.

He also alleged that the offices and residences of MQM workers were being raided and illegal arrests were being made in the name of operation.

Sabzwari claimed that business community was yet receiving 'slips" as well as threats from the extortionists.

“ MQM supports every legal step for the restoration of peace in the metropolis”, said he.
