Bombs won’t affect fight against terrorists: NawazISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said attacks such as the one that killed a general and two other soldiers would not affect the fight against terrorists.
Prime Minister Nawaz on Sunday phoned Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and conveyed to him his condolences over the martyrdom of Malakand Division General Officer Commanding Major General Sanaullah, Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef and Lance Naik Imran. He said this attack would not affect the fight against militants. “Pakistan Army has made substantial sacrifices to protect the nation against the menace of terrorism and such cowardly acts by terrorists cannot deter the morale of our armed forces,” Nawaz said in a statement. The prime minister said that the Pakistan Army had made countless sacrifices for the defence of the nation and in fighting the scourge of terrorism. He said such incidents could not deter the morale of the armed forces, which would continue to serve the nation and the country with vigour. Nawaz also prayed that may God grant fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the loss.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also phoned the army chief to condemn the Upper Dir blast. Expressing his condolence, Nisar said the Pakistan Army has made substantial sacrifices to protect the nation from the menace of terrorism and such cowardly acts by terrorists cannot deter the morale of the armed forces. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also condoled with General Kayani and expressed his sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of Major General Sanaullah and his companions. The chief minister said the whole nation is grieved over the martyrdom of the officers of the Pakistan Army at the hand of terrorists. He said that the people of the country are standing shoulder to shoulder with the army and their sympathies are with the families of the martyrs.
Shahbaz said in a statement that there are strong sentiments of anger and anguish in every member of society against the perpetrators of this terrorist act who deserve no leniency and must be dealt with an iron hand. He said that these criminals will be punished in this world and the world hereafter. The chief minister said that terrorists responsible for this tragic incident are enemies of Pakistan as well as Islam and these deaths are a collective loss of the nation. staff report
