MQM’s Nadeem Hashmi released for lack of evidence
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) former member of Sindh Assembly, Nadeem Hashmi has been released for lack of sufficient evidence, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Karachi police had arrested Nadeem Hashmi in a case of two policemen’s murder in North Nazimabad last week, drawing strong protest from the MQM.
A case was lodged against the former lawmaker and proceedings carried out in an anti-terrorism court. However, according to sources, the accused was released today for lack of sufficient evidence.
It may be remembered that the arrest of Nadeem Hashmi had sparked violence in Karachi, suspending socio-economic activities in the port city on Wednesday resulting in billions of loss.
