ATC to record witnesses’ statements in BB murder case
RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court will on Tuesday record statements of prosecution witnesses in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
On September 2, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General and lawyer Abdul Latif Khosa had appeared before the trial court seeking permission to become party to the case.
Presenting his power of attorney, Khosa had pleaded that Benazir Bhutto was the PPP chairwoman and now her son Bilwal Bhutto Zardari was the chairman and legal heir of the assassinated leader, therefore, the PPP should be allowed to become party to the case.
ATC Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman had remarked that the court had already indicted the main accused, former president Pervez Musharraf, and asked if PPP wanted a re-trial of the case?
Khosa had argued that the PPP never wanted a re-trial of the case, as it would further delay the case.
After hearing the plea, the court had directed Khosa to assist the prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to expedite the case proceedings. app
