PTI man defeats Fazl’s son in by-poll

TANK: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate beat Fazlur Rehman’s son in the election for the NA-25 constituency on Wednesday.

PTI’s Dawar Kundi has swooped Tank’s NA-25 seat with 50,795 votes, beating the JUI-F candidate, Asad Mahmood, who secured 41,311 votes. Due to deteriorating law and order situation in Tank, the elections had to be rescheduled to September 18 from August 22. The informal results show that the PTI is leading the contest. The polling started at 8am and continued until 5pm with reports from polls watchdog organisation FAFEN saying that women were barred from voting at several polling stations. Army troops, Frontier Constabulary and local police personnel were deployed at sensitive polling stations to ensure peaceful holding of the by-polls. staff report
