Anti-terrorism law should transcend political vendetta: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Friday that the government wanted to make an anti-terrorism law which transcended political vendetta.
Speaking during the Federal Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Sharif added that he was victimised due to flaws in the anti-terrorism law and was sentenced for 27 years.
Earlier, the Federal Cabinet approved the draft of the anti-terrorism amendment bill. Amendments proposed in the bill seek security for witnesses and prosecutors in terrorism cases.
The prime minister also spoke of the situation in Karachi, stating that law and order in the port city was a top priority of the government. According to the prime minister, the citizens of Karachi had to pay millions in ransom which was unjust.
