SC refuses to accept Khoso’s apology
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has again refused to accept the apology of former caretaker prime minister, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, in contempt of court case, saying the matter would be decided after examination of statements. A three-member bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali was hearing the contempt case against former PSPM and ex-secretary Establishment Division regarding appointment and transfer of 22 federal secretaries in violation of the court’s judgment in Anita Turab case. The petition was filed by Shafqat Hussain Naghmi, a BS-22 officer of Secretariat Group and Imtiaz Inyat Elahi, CAD secretary. During the hearing, Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan Ali Zai submitted the summaries along with relevant record of the posting and transfer of 22 federal secretaries by Khoso in violation of the court’s judgement in Anita Turab case. Arif Chaudhry, counsel for interim PM, said his client had already withdrawn transfer and posting orders of over 20 federal secretaries and alleged the Election Commission of Pakistan for the decision of postings. He also requested that unconditional apology of ex-principal secretary to PM Khawaja Sadiq Akbar be accepted. Justice Jamali however rejected his request by saying they would examine the apologies and thereafter would decide about the matter. The case was adjourned for indefinite period. Earlier, Submitting a reply through his counsel Arif Chaudhry in contempt of court case, the caretaker PM told the SC that ECP orders issued on April 2 were the root cause and origin of issuance of these orders that prompted court to contemplate action in the case. hasnaat malik
