PM Nawaz leaves for US to attend UN General Assembly's session

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif left Islamabad on US tour on Sunday to lead Pakistan's delegation at the UN General Assembly's session in New York, Geo News reported.

The prime minister after overnight stay in London will be leaving for US tomorrow.

He was seen off by the Information Minister Pervez Rashid‚ Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Asif Kirmani and other high-ranking officials at the Islamabad Nur Khan Air Base.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are also accompanying the Prime Minister.

During his weeklong stay in United States the prime minister will address the UN General Assembly on 27th of this month and will highlight Pakistan’s viewpoint on various regional and international issues besides domestic priorities.

The prime minister will apprise the session about the efforts the present government is making to curb the menace of terrorism to bring stability to the region.

Nawaz Sharif will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders including his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the General Assembly session. He will discuss various bilateral and regional issues with these leaders.

The prime minister is also expected to hold meetings with the Amir of Kuwait, the prime minister of Japan, EU president, Nato secretary general, IMF managing director, Bill Gates, Saudi Arabia’s Saud Al Faisal, Chinese foreign minister and high-ranking officials of Denmark.
