Party loyalists celebrate Bilawal’s birthdayStaff Report
LAHORE: Party activists on Saturday celebrated Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 25th birthday across the city.
A number of cake-cutting ceremonies and an exhibition were held. Senior PPP leaders cut a cake to celebrate the birthday and prayed for the health of Bilawal.
They also paid a tribute to former president Asif Ali Zardari for his contributions to the party.
Ceremonies were held at the residence of PPP Secretary General Latif Khosa and other leaders, Museum Hall and Alhamra Art Gallery.
While addressing a ceremony at his residence, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said the elections were rigged to keep the PPP out of power. He said the party workers were ignored in the PPP government and now they had the right to hold the party leadership accountable.
He said the PPP had accepted the poll results as it did not want to derail democracy.
Sardar Latif Khosa said the PPP would present the proof of rigging in the general elections in a few days.
He apologised to the workers for injustices being done against them.
Khosa said if the decision in the Asghar Khan case was implemented, both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif would get punishment for taking money from the agencies to topple the then PPP government.
He said Bilawal could complete the mission of his mother Benazir Bhutto and the party would make him its chairman.
Separately, the Peoples Students Federation (PSF) organised a ceremony at the Museum Hall in which Latif Khosa was the chief guest.
PSF President Nayyar Jutt demanded that the PPP hand over the leadership to Bilwal Bhutto Zaradri.
Latif Khosa said the death of Bhutto was a judicial murder.
He said: “The party PPP senior leadership has already decided that they will hand over the party leadership to Bilawal.”
Khosa said Bilawal Bhutto would prove to be a great leader of Pakistan.
An artwork exhibition was held at the Alhamra Art Gallery in which works describing the history of the PPP, life of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and efforts made by the Bhutto family were displayed.
