UK Home Secretary offers help in combating terrorism
ISLAMABAD: British Home Secretary, Theresa May arrived in the Federal Capital and met with her Pakistani counterpart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
Sources said that matters relating to the situation emanating after the withdrawal of allied forces from Afghanistan were discussed and the two leaders agreed on the countries cooperating against terrorism.
Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, expressing the government’s resolve to wipe out terrorism, said that an effective strategy was being formulated for this purpose.
During the meeting, Theresa May offered UK help to Pakistan in combating terrorism. She said that Britain would continue to offer assistance to Islamabad in this regard.
After the meeting, Nisar and May held a joint news conference. May told reporters that Pakistan had suffered the most due of terrorism and both countries would combat this menace jointly. When asked about the murder case of Dr Imran Farooq, May replied that the investigation was ongoing.
Interior Minister Nisar said that it would be premature to comment on who the perpetrators of the Peshawar bombing were. He added that the decision taken at the All Parties Conference was not a ‘knee-jerk’ reaction and subsequent events could not change or modify policy.
