‘Teachers’ confidence restored in judiciary’

Staff Report

LAHORE: The Punjab University teachers have welcomed the Supreme Court of Pakistan decision to reinstate Prof Dr Shaukat Ali as member PU Syndicate and Chairman Physics department in its ruling while hearing a case of alleged tempering in matriculation degree on Monday.

PU Academic Staff Association (PU ASA) chairman Ahsaan Sharif and Secretary Javed, in a statement, said this decision has further strengthened the confidence of teachers’ community in the supreme judiciary.

It’s worth mention that LHC, in its interim orders, had stopped Dr Shaukat to work on his both positions without hearing the case.

Now the SC has set aside these orders of the LHC and directed it to constitute a senior most bench and decided the case within a week.

ASA office bearers said SC also criticised the LHC ruling in harsh words referring to unjustified suspension of Dr Shaukat even without hearing the case since long. They praised SC for providing justice to the citizens of Pakistan.
