Nothing in ECP report endorses PTI’s claims: Pervez Rashid
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervez Rashid Wednesday termed the Parliament as the best platform in democratic practices and that the one who shies away from attending the house is one who has no evidence.
Addressing a news conference here, Pervez Rashid, flanked by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Anusha Rehman, said he had come to challenge the ‘Bohtan Khan’ in a clear reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
He said the ‘Bohtan Khan’ had insisted that the election results had been withheld after the speech of Nawaz Sharif on the eve of last year’s elections but there is no such finding in the recent report released by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
“Neither does the report contains anything on the allegations pertaining to publishing of the ballot papers from Urdu Bazar or the so-called 35 punctures,” he noted, inviting the accusers to come to the Parliament and read out every single line of the report.
He said, the report has no such finding that endorses the PTI’s claims that it was winning the polls or the elections were snatched from them.
The Information Minister said Imran Khan had gone on record to express his confidence on the interim prime minister and the chief election commissioner prior to the Elections 2013.
He said the ‘Bohtan Khan’ did not approach the election tribunal and on several occasions he (Imran Khan) had decided not to fight the case.
“If you (Imran Khan) really want me to refrain from calling you ‘Bohtan or Ilzam Khan’ then you should come to the Parliament along with the ECP’s report,” he challenged the PTI chief.
Pervez Rashied said he would himself take the report to the Parliament and have its every line debated.
He said ‘Bohtan Khan’ misled people by giving it a name of ECP’s report which is actually a set of recommendations from the observers of the Election 2013.
