NewsSSP among several cops hurt in Karachi blast
KARACHI: Several policemen, including SSP Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Farooq Awan, have been injured as a result of a powerful blast in DHA phase-4 area of Karachi.
According to details, the blast occurred when an explosives-laden motor cycle rammed into the police van of SSP Farooq Awan from the front. Farooq Awan received minor injuries while other policemen also sustained wounds.
The emergency services rushed the injured to a hospital where the condition of SSP Farooq Awan is said to be out of danger.
The blast completely destroyed the police van.
This was a second attack on SSP Awan. In the first attack, which had taken place at Sohrab Goth in 2010, he had sustained bullet wounds on his leg.
Sources said SSP SIU Farooq Awan was on a hit-list of a proscribed outfit and he had also informed the high ups about the threats to his life.
