LHC orders release of Gullu Butt
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday declared the arrest of Gullu Butt by police authorities as unlawful and ordered for his immediate release, Geo News reported.
Justice Qasim Khan of the LHC was hearing the case and questioned if he was involved in any other case and to produce evidence against him.
He also asked the government on what grounds Butt had been detained when a divisional court had already issued him a bail.
The government had detained Gullu Butt before his bail on the suspicion of disturbing peace that was later challenged by him.
The court ordered the Punjab government to immediately release Gullu Butt and notify the court in writing.
It may be mentioned that Butt was caught on camera smashing windows of cars during the clashes between Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and the police outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat on June 17.
