UNITED NATIONS: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take the world stage on Friday to outline Pakistan’s views on key issues of peace, security and development in an address to the UN General Assembly, at an important time for the region and world community. It will be the second time that Prime Minister Sharif will address the annual United Nations General Assembly session. He spoke to the 193-member assembly last year, a few months after he led his party to victory in the general elections. In his address, Prime Minister Sharif, who is accompanied by a small delegation for the UN General Assembly visit, is expected to focus on Pakistan’s policy to establish and promote relations on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation in South Asia. The prime minister is expected to speak about the longstanding Kashmir dispute in the context of peace, stability and development in the region, and also delineate Islamabad’s policy towards peaceful relations in the region, particularly India and Afghanistan.
