Sartaj welcomes Modi’s Pak-India talks resumption statement
NEW YORK: Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has welcomed the statement of Indian PM Narendra Modi for resumption of Pak-India dialogues, Geo News reported.
Talking to Geo News, Sartaj Aziz said Modi’s statement for resumption of Pak-India talks was ‘encouraging.’
In a reaction on Indian PM address in the UN General Assembly, Aziz said raising Kashmir issue in the UNGA by PM Nawaz Sharif was vital so that the world community must come to know which stakeholder is hindering in the way of its resolution.
He said the international community knows who suspended the dialogues after India abruptly decided to postpone Pak-India secretary-level talks without any reason.
Modi’s statement in UNGA:
Indian PM Narendra Modi, during his address to the General Assembly of the United Nations on Saturday, stressed that Pakistan will have to create terrorism-free climate for resumption of negotiations.
“We desire serious dialogue for enhancing friendship and cooperation with Pakistan,” Narendra Modi said from the floor of the UN.
He said his government from day one spoke in favour of improving ties and boosting cooperation with the neighbouring country.
However, he categorically said that raising disputes in the UN was not going to resolve the issues, adding, Pakistan also needs to fulfill its part for engaging in cordial relations.
