Pervaiz rules out possibility of early elections

LAHORE - Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan incited people for violence and attacks which is not a service to Pakistan.

Talking to the journalists in Lahore on Sunday, Pervaiz said that slogans were being raised against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and pointed out that similar reaction could be shown by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) workers. He said that the PTI chief vetoed his negotiating team while climbing to his container after Sheikh Rashid said something in his ear. Replying to questions, he said that the government will complete its five-year constitutional term as per the mandate given by the people of the country and ruled out possibility of any early elections.

He said that the PML-N does not do politics of violence and believes in freedom of expression adding that everyone has the right to hold peaceful public meeting. However, he asked politicians not to adopt the path of violence for the sake of change. Pervaiz said that every political party having representation in the parliament must come to the highest public forum to express their views, following the democratic norms.

He said that the path of violence would lead the nation to destruction. The information minister stressed the need for resolving the conflicts in the society through talks. He said the government has demonstrated patience at every level and always welcomed the positive criticism.
