Imran wants ‘coercive, corrupt to core’ rulers to be jailed like Indian CM
By Sardar Sikander Shaheen

ISLAMABAD: PTI Chief Imran Khan has demanded an exemplary punishment to “coercive “ and “corrupt to the core” Pakistani rulers the way an Indian court has jailed one of the India’s former chief ministers on the charges of corruption.
“If an all powerful Indian chief minister can be jailed on the charges of corruption, why can’t this happen in Pakistan where Nawaz and Zardari have multiplied their black money at your expense?” Khan asked. The PTI chief on Saturday told a charged assembly of his followers at the 45th consecutive day of PTI’s sit-in campaign seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. A special Indian court has given four-year imprisonment to former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and fined her 1 billion Indian rupees after corruption charges against her stood proved. “Why can’t this happen in Pakistan? Are Nawaz and Zardari above the law? Shouldn’t they be held accountable for making dirty money?” he added.
Imran Khan alleged that PM Sharif and his sons owned prime lands in Mayfair, London. “He has a house valuing Rs 6 billion in the Mayfair area and his sons live in posh homes whose price exceeds Rs 8 billion.”
The original estimated value of New Islamabad Airport, Khan recalled, was Rs 35 billion compared to Rs 65 billion already incurred on the airport’s construction so far. “And that airport is nowhere to be seen. All the money is filling the pockets of Nawaz Sharif and his cronies.”
Referring to the statements from senior government functionaries that the estimated expenditure on the Metro Bus Project has increased by Rs 6 billion due to ongoing sit-ins by the PTI and the PAT, PTI Chairman Imran said: “We are sitting here quite away from the area where the project is being executed. Never did we do anything to disrupt the project. How has the project’s cost been increased by even a penny due to our sit-ins? It’s not about sit-ins; it’s about corruption because that Rs 6 billion has landed directly in the overfilled pockets of Nawaz Sharif.”
Khan congratulated his supporters for the ‘good news’ that PM Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Tahir Alam were booked under murder charges for allegedly ordering the police to shoot PTI and PAT protesters on August 31, an incident that he said claimed seven lives. Specifically addressing the IGP, Imran Khan said, “Tahir Alam! You are a jackal, a shameless man. You say you are the real Khan! No you are not. You are a jackal who is a personal servant to Nawaz Sharif. I will not spare the three of you for killing my innocent Pakistanis.”
Khan went on to note that former NADRA chairman Tariq Malik has exposed how the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in collusion with caretaker set-up and Nawaz Sharif’s men have rigged the May 2013 general polls. “And he was made to leave the country. His daughters were threatened of dire consequences and false charges were framed against him.”
Imran Khan deplored that not even a single ECP official tendered resignation after the 2013 general elections while NADRA chairman, who stood up against rigging, was made to leave and he went abroad to save his life.
He asked the “corrupt ECP machinery as to why has it failed to upload Form 14, a key electoral document of the last years’ general elections, onto its website. “Because the Form 14 has all been manipulated and the ECP cannot dare upload it onto its website.”
Out of sheer embarrassment, believed Khan, PM Sharif had to cut short his New York’s visit. “Because he had become a laughing stock and people were chanting ‘go Nawaz go’ slogans even outside the UN Headquarters. “Mian sahib, why did you have to spend Rs 1 million per night in New York from public funds when you were told to face this kind of embarrassment? ” Imran Khan asked.
He urged Nawaz Sharif to arrange a public gathering greater than the one taking place at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore today (Sunday). “Mian sahib, if you need patwaris, I’ll make them available from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make sure you need the traditional help but even then you won’t be able to gather even a fraction of people at Minar-e-Pakistan as compared to our show today,” he said, adding that this would be the greatest political show in Pakistan. “Is it Noora’s Lahore or is it the centre of the PTI’s revolution; people would record their verdict today. Nawaz you just wait and see!” he added.
