Japan’s top varsity keen to enroll more Pakistani students

Envoy urges Japanese institutions to consider stronger academic interaction with Pakistan

TOKYO – Ambassador to Japan Farukh Amil has urged Japanese educational institutions to consider stronger academic interaction with Pakistan and implored Toyohashi University of Technology to enroll more students from his country.

The ambassador gave a presentation to the students of the university and its faculty over the weekend following his meeting with university’s president Takashi Onishi who is also the president of the influential Japan Science Council.

Ambassador Amil highlighted the strong heritage of Pak-Japan relations and later answered questions from the participants which ranged from women issues, democracy, global peacekeeping and cultural matters.

Warmly welcoming the first ever visit by a Pakistani envoy, the president of the university said that he was keen to enroll more students of science and technology from Pakistan at the university.

The ambassador toured the state-of-the-art research facility, evolution of the electronics-Inspired Interdisciplinary Research Institute (EIIRIS) which is developing cutting-edge technology in next-generation interdisciplinary research. The briefing tour of EIIRIS was conducted by leading Japanese scientist Professor Makoto Ishida, said the message.
