SC rejects plea of larger bench for PM's disqualification case
INP

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Monday heard a petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and later adjourned the case till Wednesday.

The petition has been filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ishaq Khakwani. The petitioner seeks disqualification of the prime minister on the grounds that he lied at the floor of the parliament over army's role in negotiations with the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to end the sit-ins.

Justice Jawwad S Khawaja heard the petition where PTI counsel Gohar Nawaz Sindhu requested the court to form a larger bench to hear the case. However, Justice Khawaja rejected Sindhu's verbal request, saying that it's only Chief Justice of Pakistan's authority to form a larger bench.
