LAHORE – Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique on Saturday said that strengthening of national economy was top priority of the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to reporters, he said that national economy could only be improved, if stability prevails, and terrorism be rooted out. To a question on by-polls in NA 122 and NA 154, he said that party had decided to go for by-elections in both the constituencies.
As far as NA-125 was concerned, the matter was in the Supreme Court, he said. Anybody could use the option of going to the Supreme Court, he added. On Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) resignations, he said that the government never wanted that any party come on roads.
The Pakistan Muslim League-N restrained from accepting resignations when it was about resignations of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. “Same policy is for MQM,” he said, adding every party needs to purge their ranks of criminals.
To another query, he said that all accountability institutions should do their work without being partial. “We do not want to fight with Pakistan People's Party (PPP),” Saad told a questioner about the cases on former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, former federal minister Amin Fahim and former adviser Dr Asim Hussain.
