Terrorists won't be allowed to disrupt peace in Swat: army chief

RAWALPINDI - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif attended the Kalam festival on Monday.

He appreciated the people of Swat for playing a vital role in supporting security forces in revival of peace in the area and bringing festivals and tourism back to the valley.

“The dark age of terrorism prevailed in Malakand division till a few years back and it had become impossible to hold such functions in Swat, but the sacrifices and firm commitment of the valiant soldiers of the Pakistan Army, civil forces and the local people have eliminated terrorism from Malakand,” he said.

Expressing the hope that tourism will flourish in Swat, the army chief assured the locals that the army would always stand by the people of Swat and will help build capacity of civilian institutions.

He said that terrorists would not be allowed to return to these areas and disrupt peace and stability of Swat. He also lauded the efforts of the organising committee for arranging such an excellent event.
