Earthquake jolts several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: A strong earthquake measuring 5.5 on Richter scale struck various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between the night of Wednesday and Thursday. The earthquake panicked many people, who reportedly came out of their homes reciting prayers and many of them spent the night in the open. The earthquake tremors were felt in various cities including Peshawar, Chitral, Mingora, Shangla, Lower Dir and Ghizer District of Gilgit Baltistan, which borders the Chitral Valley. The epicentre of the earthquake was stated to be 229 kilometers north east of Kabul in the Hindukush region.
