ATTOCK: As many as 734 girls fell unconscious at a state-run school on Thursday after spurious spray by the local administration to prevent dengue, local media quoting officials reported. The officials said the incident occurred at a public school in Jund area of Attock. Around 1,370 girl students were present in the school at the time of spray. The students admitted in hospital were reported in stable condition. Emergency has been imposed at a district hospital where over 700 students were shifted on self-help basis, officials added. Speaking to media the victims said the fumigation was carried out during recess time, however, the intensity of the spray was so severe that they started suffocating and passed out. Opposition Leader Mehmoodur Rasheed has submitted a call attention notice in the Punjab Assembly over the incident. The call attention notice also seeks for a case to be lodged against those responsible for the incident.
