Furious Bilawal terms Punjab rulers ‘punishment for masses’
LAHORE: Lashing out at the ruling Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Saturday the city was handed over to the ‘buddies of terrorists’.
Speaking to party workers here, he said rulers in Punjab were nothing less than ‘punishment for the masses’, urging them to change themselves with the changing times.
Calling the provincial administration ‘anti-farmer and a government of capitalists’, Bilawal said poor farmers’ earnings were looted by the N-league.
The PPP patron-in-chief had arrived in Lahore earlier this week to hold meetings with the party’s provincial leadership, aiming to revamp the party in Punjab.
“Mian sb (CM Shahbaz Sharif) you said change my name if I fail to provide uninterrupted electricity within six months of coming into power… Now tell me by what name should I call you.”
Ruling out reconciliation with what he called ‘enemies of farmers and labourers’, the PPP supremo said no understanding can be reached with those who do not raise the Kashmir issue.
“We are heirs of martyrs and you are hurling allegations of terrorism at us,” he said.
Besides poor farmers and labourers, the traders’ community was also protesting and holding shutter-down strikes against wrong policies of the incumbent government, said Bilawal.
“Mian sb motorways and buses don’t formulate a country, the state is comprised of masses,” he said, adding that the people and parity were not the part of the government’s agenda.
“Those who talked of breaking the begging bowl are now looking for a way out by seeking loans.”
