Punjab Rangers chief meets India’s home minister

NEW DELHI – A 16-member delegation led by Punjab Rangers Director General Maj Gen Umar Farooq held a meeting with India’s Home Minister Rajanth Singh in New Delhi, the Indian media reported on Friday.
The meeting decided that communication through phone and emails will be maintained. In a separate development, the second round of the three-day talks between the Punjab Rangers and India’s Border Security Force was held in New Delhi.
The two sides discussed violations of the 2003 ceasefire agreement, cross border smuggling, and handing over the people who had mistakenly crossed the border.
The first round of talks concluded cordially and both sides agreed to take steps to start coordinated patrolling at the border, as well as to monitor ceasefire violations.
