Govt expedites efforts to address audit objections on expenditures
ISLAMABAD: The government has expedited its efforts to address all the objections raised by auditor general of Pakistan (AGP) on the expenditure of federal ministries and their sub-departments.
Credible sources said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed all ministries and other departments to address objections raised by AGP on their expenditures immediately. Federal finance minister would meet AGP once in a week in this regard. “With the fear of merciless accountability, the audit staffers raising objections on ministries and sub departments were in severe pressure because on one hand, there were facing the fear of impartial officials of accountability and on the other hand, there was a pressure of government for the removal of objections,” sources added.
Most of the employees were of the view it would create problems and difficulties for the government in near future if these audit paragraphs were removed temporarily and existing rulers will not come forward for the defence, sources revealed. The slot of AGP is a constitutional post and any minister and even PM cannot influence on audit official.
