‘Relations with Islamic states cornerstone of foreign policy’

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain said on Tuesday relations with Islamic countries are cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Talking to diplomats of Muslim countries on Tuesday, he said Pakistan wants Islamic states to share their expertise in different fields. He said the Muslim countries should adopt a joint strategy to deal with the current challenges and stressed the need for enhancing the current volume of trade among Muslim countries, which is worth $19 billion. The president said Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit being held in Islamabad in November will discuss suggestions and proposals to promote science and technology in the Muslim world.
Mamnoon said Operation Zarb-e-Azb is successfully heading towards its logical conclusion. He said FATA has been mostly cleared of terrorists, and there will be complete peace in the country in the next couple of months. Talking to Pakistan’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Maldives Vice Admiral (r) Sayyid Khawar Ali, the president stressed identification of prospective areas of cooperation to further diversify and strengthen bilateral relations.
