Karachi sizzles at 43C today

KARACHI: Temperatures in the financial hub of Pakistan rose to 42 degrees centigrade on Saturday with the Meteorological Department predicting that the mercury may further increase.

Forecasting dry and hot weather for Saturday, the Met Office said low winds are blowing from North West with 34 percent humidity in the air.

According to Secretary Health, the Sindh government has declared an emergency in all the hospitals across Karachi, directing the staff to be present on duty.

Keeping in view hundreds of casualties from sizzling heat in Karachi in the month of June this year, the weather experts have advised the city's residents to consume more water and remain indoors in the face of rising temperature that is likely to last till Monday.
