Nawaz to take ‘evidence’ on India’s role in terror to UN
* Sartaj Aziz says dossiers will have ‘concrete details’ of involvement of Indian state actors in stoking and supporting militancy inside Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz, while speaking in the Upper House of the parliament, said Pakistan would take along to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) all the dossiers prepared against India for its involvement in terror activities in Pakistan.

The advisor said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during his upcoming visit to New York, would address the annual UNGA session on September 30. “The dossiers would provide ‘concrete evidences’ of the Indian state actors’ involvement in stoking and supporting militancy in the country’s troubled regions,” he added.

He said India accuses the non-state actors from Pakistan of meddling in the Indian affairs, but in reality, the Indian state actors are interfering in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan would not request for any meeting with the Indian prime minister, adding this time India would have to request for a meeting between the two leaders.

“India only wants to talk on terror and we want a discussion on all outstanding issues between the two countries including the Indian Administered Kashmir. Our position is very clear. India called off the NSA-level dialogue last month and the request for any meeting must come from the Indian side. India has to take the initiative or else we are not going to request for any meeting,” he maintained.

Sataj Aziz said that during the recent meeting between the director generals of Pakistan Rangers and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), the two sides agreed to discuss ceasefire violations on the Working Boundary.

The advisor said that Pakistan also called for a joint-investigation over cross border firing, which India did not accept, saying both the sides would conduct their own inquiry. He said that Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN has also written a letter to the UN Security Council to take notice of the Indian aggression.

During his address to the annual session of UNGA on September 30, the adviser said that the prime minister would highlight the issues of Kashmir, Indian interference and threat to strategic balance in South Asia.

He said Pakistan is ready to facilitate dialogue process between Afghanistan and Taliban, adding that efforts were underway to help Afghanistan in achieving lasting peace.

However, Sartaj Aziz had nothing concrete to say about the allegations levelled by former president Parvez Musharraf on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif regarding the Nawaz-Vajpayee signing declaration of 1999.

This angered the opposition lawmakers, who staged a walkout from the house, declaring the briefing by the advisor as a mere handout by the Foreign Office.

Senate Opposition Leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, who led the protesting MPs, said that the adviser had nothing to say about the serious allegations levelled by Pervez Musharraf, who claimed that Nawaz Sharif, the then prime minister, wilfully removed the word Kashmir from Lahore Declaration in his absence as he was the chief of army staff then.
