INP
GUJRANWALA: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) President Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui was acquitted by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Gujranwala in a case against him for allegedly delivering a hate speech. ATC Judge Bushra Zaman conducted the hearing of the case lodged against Aurangzeb Farooqui in November 2014, with Saddar police in Lala Moosa for allegedly delivering an inflammatory speech. The court, after listening to both sides, said the prosecution failed to substantiate charges and freed the ASWJ leader. Two other accused in the case have already been absolved. Talking to media after his acquittal, Aurangzeb Farooqui said, “I have confidence in courts and I am hopeful to be absolved in other cases too. There are threats to my life while being taken to courts from Adiyala Prison and if something happens to me, then Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be responsible.”
