Minister asks world powers to deliberate over solution to terrorism

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar has said that Pakistan is making sincere efforts to weed out extremism and restore peace in the region.

He expressed these views in a meeting with British High Commissioner Philip Barton and Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Tobias Ellwood here on Tuesday. The meeting discussed matters of mutual importance, including cooperation in different sectors and war on terror.

Nisar asked world powers to stop considering Muslims the reason behind terrorism and deliberate over a solution instead. “Muslims are not terrorists,” he added. He said that success of Zarb-e-Azb military operation was a testament of Pakistan’s practical efforts and determination.

“Despite numerous sacrifices in the war, the government’s resolve has not weakened,” he added. He said that relations with Britain were of immense importance for Pakistan. British minister Tobias Martin appreciated efforts of the government and the people of Pakistan to root out terrorism. He vowed that Britain would continue to support Pakistan for in order to strengthen institutions and restore peace.
