Sindh Police decide to set up Witness Protection Unit

KARACHI: The Sindh Police have finally decided to implement a law regarding protection for witnesses, setting up a special force to ensure their safety.

According to a spokesman for the Sindh Police, Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Haider Jamali presided over a meeting at the Central Police Office where the issue of witness protection came under discussion on Wednesday.

The meeting decided to form a Witness Protection Unit for the safety of witnesses for which Sindh Home Minister would also be approached for assistance.

The IG also formed a committee headed by Additional IG of Counter Terrorism Department to finalise rules and regulations for witness protection.
