Nawaz meets British counterpart David Cameron
Cameron welcomes Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood, appreciates Pakistan’s role in fight against terrorism

LONDON - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was received by British Prime Minister David Cameron here at the 10 Downing Street on Wednesday.

During the meeting, held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, both the leaders expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and UK and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. Prime Minister Nawaz, who was in London on his way to New York to attend 70th session of the UN General Assembly, stated that Pakistan and UK enjoyed close and cordial relations in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education, security and defence.

He also highlighted that the presence of a large Pakistani diaspora in the UK acted as a bridge between the two countries, a press release issued by Pakistan High Commission in London said. The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of global and regional importance, including the situation in Afghanistan. Nawaz reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours in line with his vision. He also highlighted Pakistan’s important role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

The British Prime Minister welcomed Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood and appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against militancy and terrorism. Cameron was assisted by his National Security Adviser Sir Mark Lyall Grant, while Prime Minister Nawaz was accompanied by his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi.
