LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed police and other law enforcement agencies to take foolproof security measures on Eidul Azha.

In a directive, he said that maintenance of law and order on the special occasion of Eidul Azha was the responsibility of the government, therefore best arrangements be made for the security of citizens. He asked for extra deployment of police force at mosques, Imambargahs and Eidgahs.

The chief minister directed high police officials to personally supervise measures taken to protect lives and property of the people. He also directed that police officials deputed at Eid congregations should only allow entries in the gathering of Namaz-e-Eid after thorough checking. “Strict checking be ensured through walk-gates and metal detectors for security of Eid congregations,” he added.

Shahbaz said that law enforcement agencies should make intelligence sharing system more effective so that nefarious designs of anti-social elements could be thwarted.
