Pakistan wants good ties with neighbours: Nawaz
* PM discusses LoC violations, Afghan peace talks with British counterpart
LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met his British counterpart David Cameron on Wednesday and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours in line with his vision.
The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of global and regional importance, including the situation in Afghanistan and the recent violations across the Line of Control (LoC) by India. Nawaz also highlighted Pakistan’s important role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
During the meeting, held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, both the leaders expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
PM Nawaz, who stopped in London before going to New York to attend the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, stated that Pakistan and the UK enjoyed close and cordial relations in diverse fields. He also highlighted that the presence of a large Pakistani diaspora in the UK acted as a bridge between the two countries.
The British PM welcomed Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood and appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against militancy and terrorism.
