Conspiracies to destabilise Pakistan have been foiled: president

ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the conspiracies to destabilise Pakistan have been foiled and efforts are underway to eliminate terrorism.

He was addressing a ceremony in honour of 1965 war veterans in Islamabad on Wednesday. The president said terrorism is being eliminated and law and order is improving in Pakistan. To counter these challenges, operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched which is progressing successfully, he added. Mamnoon said that Pakistan is confronted with the challenges of terrorism and lawlessness.

The president said that the armed forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to confront all challenges with the backing and support of the nation. He stated that Pakistan has been created in the name of Islam which instills in us the spirit and strength to confront the enemy and render sacrifices. President Mamnoon said the enemies always tried to harm Pakistan but the nation has the capability to foil their designs.

The President expressed his conviction that the nation would never forget their sacrifices. Paying tributes to the elders, mothers, daughters and sons of the nation who rendered sacrifices for the motherland, he expressed his conviction that the nation would never forget them. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon has urged the Pakistani Envoys to make concerted efforts for strengthening relations with their host countries.

He was talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Nigeria and Ambassadors’-designate to Hungary and Kyrgyz Republic in Islamabad on Wednesday. Talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, retired Lt Gen Agha Umer Farooq, the president underlined the need for concerted efforts to further enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Nigeria.
