Rangers says Waseem Akhtar’s statement not factual
KARACHI: While referring to MQM’s Waseem Akhtar, Sindh Rangers said that the operation in Karachi is being carried out without any discrimination and against criminals.
It referred to the statement of a leader of a political party yesterday in which while addressing the Director General of Rangers Sindh an attempt was made to create an impression that the target of the Karachi Operation was a particular individual or a political party which was against factual situation.
It said that the Karachi Operation is being carried out without any discrimination and was aimed at maintaining lasting peace and law and order in the metropolis.
The imprisoned mayor of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar, had requested the Sindh Rangers chief on Saturday to forget the unpleasantries of the past so that they could move ahead for the sake of the city.
While speaking to journalists outside an anti-terrorism court on Saturday, he said all his offences were bailable and he should be granted bail in the interest of Karachi.
He further said he might have made mistakes in the past but now he was committed to serve the city and people sincerely.
