Sattar urges party lawmakers to exercise restraint over statements from London

ISLAMABAD: As Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain instructed Convener Nadeem Nusrat to form a new party, MQM-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar urged his party's lawmakers to exercise restraint.

A meeting was held at the Parliament Lodges in Islamabad, which was presided by MQM-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar. MQM-Pakistan parliamentarians attended the meeting. Farooq Sattar urged MQM-Pakistan parliamentarians to exercise restraint and caution in response to statements from London.

On Monday, news broke that MQM founder Altaf Hussain had handed over the charge of managing all affairs of the party in London and also tasked him with forming a new political party. Nadeem Nusrat was also directed by Altaf to set up the organizational structure of the new party in Pakistan. Wasay Jalil and Mustafa Azizabadi were appointed as close advisers of Nusrat for this task.

Rifts widened between MQM-Pakistan and MQM-London after Farooq Sattar dissociated Altaf Hussain from the decisions of the party after Altaf's fiery August 22 anti-Pakistan speech.
