Skipper salutes SC for sending ‘corrupt’ PM packing
* Kaptaan sets alarm bells ringing for Punjab chief minister

CHAKWAL: Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday saluted the Supreme Court of Pakistan for send packing ‘corrupt’ prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a mammoth rally organised to launch the party’s membership drive, Kaptaan slammed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry for acquitting Asif Zardari in all cases.

Kaptaan said that Zardari’s acquittal proved that PML-N and PPP were not against each other. He warned the NAB chairman that the PTI would soon bring a case to the accountability body against Shehbaz Sharif.

“Chairman NAB, I want you to be ready for the case we are bringing against Shehbaz Sharif,” he said. “More than Rs 2 billion corruption was committed in Multan’s Metro Bus scheme.”

The skipper said that he was happy because the powerful were being held accountable for the first time in Pakistan’s history. He said that the whole nation stood behind the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Kaptaan said that he had once been jailed for eight days and had not seen one powerful person there.

“However I had found robbers in parliament,” he said, adding that in the past only the poor were held accountable but the SC’s historic decision in Panama case was the start of new Pakistan.

Imran has said that the opposition pays salute to the top court for ousting corrupt prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Kaptaan said that the court is to be thanked for a brave decision to disqualify the corrupt and powerful prime minister.

He said that the NA-120 by-polls would show whether the people stand by the court’s order or support a ‘dacoit’. He contested that Hasan Sharif resides in a house worth Rs 6 billion in London and that Pakistan was pushed into huge debts by dacoits.

“NA-120 by-election heralds extreme importance,” said Imran. “This by-election will show the world that the masses stand behind the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” he added.

Launching PTI’s membership drive in 2017, Imran said NAB should get ready to sentence Shahbaz, as it won’t be able to get away with pardoning the Nawaz clan this time around.

Displaying the PTI membership card in his hand, the PTI chairman told the audience that the card will let the party know of its members’ details like their residence and constituency. He added that through the card, the party would also be able to take their members’ opinions on nominating party members for elections in the respective constituencies.

Separately, the PTI decided to suspend Ayesha Gulalai while a notice has also been sent to her over allegations against Kaptaan.

The skipper wrote to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asking him to terminate Gulalai and revoke her parliament membership. The copy of this letter was also sent to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). A copy of the notice has also been dispatched to the ECP and NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, urging them to take notice into the matter.
