NAB bars Sharifs and Dar from selling any property
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Region on Friday pasted notices on the main entry gates of the residences of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Jati Umra and Model Town, directing them not to sell any of the properties.
The notices sent to the Sharif family also mention the names of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (r) Safdar. The notices have also been pasted at the residence of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. The notices state that the Sharif family and Ishaq Dar cannot sell or buy properties until a verdict is announced on the NAB references filed against them in an accountability court in Islamabad. Copies of the notices have been sent to the heads of Lahore Development Authority, Punjab Excise Department, Defence Housing Authority, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and Lahore deputy commissioner, directing them to keep vigil and stop taking place of any transaction. Besides, the copies of notices have again been sent to all the banks of the country. The notices have been issued in connection with the Avenfield properties of the Sharif family in London, over which a reference has been filed against them in the Islamabad accountability court.
Meanwhile, NAB Lahore Region has sent notices to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at his Islamabad and Lahore residences. According to the notice, Dar cannot sell his movable and immovable properties under the NAB law. Dar is accused of possessing assets disproportionate to his declared sources of income. The violation of NAB’s order would result in punishment under section 23-A of the NAB law.
