Imran Khan contempt case: ECP postpones decision till Oct 12

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned the contempt of court case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan citing the adjournment of a similar case in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) till October 11 and stating that the CEC will make a decision if the IHC does not issue an order in the same case.

An ECP bench comprising of four-members, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan, resumed hearing the contempt case on Wednesday.

Proceedings resumed, as PTI chief’s representative Shahid Gondal appeared in court and was asked by the CEC regarding the IHC’s case on the same issue, Gondal said that the case has been adjourned until October 11.

Upon hearing this, the CEC remarked that they have still not received a copy of the court order on the issue. The hearing was then adjourned briefly, after which the ECP adjourned the hearing until October 12.

CEC observed that it will make a decision on the case if the IHC does not issue an order in the case by October 11.
