Hamza Shehbaz designated opposition leader in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz has been appointed on Thursday as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.

Punjab Assembly Speaker, Pervaiz Elahi, directed a written notification in this regard.

According to the sources, Hamza’s appointment was delayed after the Assembly Secretariat received a complaint about fake signatures on the nomination papers.

After investigating the matter and ensuring that signatures were not forged, the Elahi proceeded with Hamza’s appointed, sources confirmed.

A strong opposition is waiting for the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in the Punjab Assembly keeping in view the number game where 166 MPAs will sit on the opposition benches in the house of 371.

The ruling coalition of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and PTI has 10 and 175 MPAs respectively while they have also support of one MPA from Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party and there are two independents also in the house.
