Pakistan committed to implement CPEC: PM Imran
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad and discussed matters of mutual interests.
Wang Yi, who is in Pakistan on a three-day visit, extended his government’s best wishes for the new government during the meeting. He also congratulated PM Imran for assuming office.
While exchanging views, the PM Imran termed relations with China as “corner stone” of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He added that Pakistani government is committed to implement the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid were also present during the meeting.
A day earlier, Chinese foreign minister held meeting with his counter part Shah Mehmood Qureshi and expressed his government’s wish to strengthen the bilateral relations and to work with the new government.
He also held meeting the Chief or Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa during his visit.
It was the first visit of any Chinese dignitary to Pakistan since Prime Minister Imran Khan took oath.
